It is hard to believe that our dream to have a nursery tucked in the trees in Reg’s hometown in East Falmouth has grown to what it is today!
The nursery started as an offshoot of our landscape business in 1996.
Bored with the usual offerings, we started growing unusual flowers for our clients in our small home greenhouse that Reg had built. I (Terry) would scour every seed catalog and whatever was different, I would order and grow. New introductions? A new color, size or heirloom seed? Those were the qualities that caught my eye as well as feeding my own craving for uncommon annuals. We started offering these hard to find plants to our flower landscape clients, word got around and soon these special plants would sell out instantly.
Reg had always wanted a small nursery and we did not have to look farther than our own backyard for a suitable site. Behind our home was a tract of land owned by the Flora family. They graciously agreed to sell us a portion of it. We are so proud to continue the Portuguese heritage of farming – Reg’s grandparents came from a farming background on San Miguel in the Azores. His mother picked strawberries as a young girl in the farms in Teaticket – now the site of the Teaticket School. And with the name of Flora (flower) attached to the Sandwich Road property it seemed destined to offer flowers. Fueled by Terry and our staff’s interest in unusual plants, the nursery is now a destination for all gardeners.

The nursery started small and grew.
Originally it was manned by Reg and Terry, his mother and sister. What started as a small enterprise continued to grow so that more help was needed. A talented staff has grown with the nursery bringing their energy, enthusiasm, creativity, skills and deep knowledge of plants and gardens. These passionate gardeners have all played a big part in creating this oasis for plant enthusiasts.
Whether you are just starting to discover the joys of gardening or have years of experience; our goal is to provide you with the finest plants and best gardening advice to help you in your gardening journey.
This is why we do what we do.
We delivered potting soil and pansies to one of our gardening friends from the nursery, and she gave us a bottle of Proseco with a lovely card that says: thank you for bringing so much joy with your pansies! Stay safe and enjoy this bottle when this is all over!
So to all our garden friends that we miss seeing so much – I am saving this bottle and we will pop it open when we can all be together again!
