Nasturtiums belong in every single garden. Super easy to grow for kids or timid seed starters. Some trail, some are moundy & others climb with a little urging.
We unpacked 15 different kinds from Alaska to Whirlybird – both old favorites. In between are colors and combos suitable for color schemes both raucous or refined. Buttercream, Creamsicle and Vanilla Berry sound yummy but all nasturtiums are good to eat. Though simple to grow in full sun or part sun, if the plants are stressed by drought they will not be so tasty.
The young leaves add peppery flavor to salads and sandwiches. Pick in the morning if you like mild flavor or late in the day if you want some more zip. The colorful blooms have pepper flavor too. They can be stuffed, chopped and used as edible garnishes in salads or on desserts. Even the seeds on your plants can be pickled and used in place of capers.
Nasturtiums are old-fashioned & always a favorite in cottage, patio or vegetable gardens.

Until we reopen for the season on the first day of spring, March 20 – our online shop has necessities that can be ordered then picked up the following Saturday morning 9am – 12.

You’ve no doubt heard that mail order seed companies are wildly busy as never before with the 20 million new gardeners from 2020. Even wholesale seed companies are holding us at bay regarding reorders. Bottom line, when you see what you want and need for your 2021 garden, get it. Hesitating risks disappointment later on.
